Pacific Rim

Theresa Baughman shares the newest wine of the week, a surprising treat despite the ten dollar price tag and twist off cap.

Pacific Rim Sweet Riesling

It wasn't until I got home that I realized this bottle had a twist off cap and I got a little nervous.  As a self proclaimed wine connoisseur, I prefer my wines to have corks, (real cork gets extra points.)  So after paying $10 for this bottle of Pacific Rim, I was a little apprehensive.  The first sip put all the fears away.  This is easily one of the best Rieslings I have ever tasted, and for good reason.

At Pacific Rim, they specialize in Rieslings, with over 90 percent of their products being just that.  This light, sweet wine has hints of pineapple and pear and pairs well with spicy ethnic foods.  The slight amount of carbon dioxide left in the wine creates a lively feel to the wine, adding texture though not overstated.  Silver and gold medal winner in numerous wine competitions all over the States, this wine is sure to be a hit at your next meal, twist off cap or not.  As they say at Pacific Rim, Riesling Rules!
