Mike and Mike Come to CMU
The stars of Comedy Central's Michael and Michael Have Issues cracked jokes about our very own Mt. Pleasant.
The stars of Comedy Central's new show Michael and Michael Have Issues, Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter, performed Wednesday night in Plachta Auditorium.
The show was advertised as a lecture, but as Black said, "I just want to be clear that there will be no educational value here tonight."
The Michaels kicked the show off with jokes about our fair city of Mt. Pleasant.
"Well, there's a Taco Bell... and a Meijer," Black had said, but quickly ran out of things to say.
They covered all kinds of topics from GPS, to Halloween costumes, to Showalter's adopted cats, to their recent appearance on the Detroit TV show Fox Beat. In fact, the two showed clips of their appearance on the show, and their opinions of the city of Detroit.
"It's beautiful," referring to Detroit's landscape, "I call it American Afghanistan."
Their Fox Beat clips included their original interview, their participation in the making of apple crisp, and a short preview of the weather done by Black. The crowd was rolling in their seats with in the first minutes of the men's performance, and continued to laugh right up until the end, when Showalter described his favorite "high" story, in response to a audience member's question.
"I was really just peeing on myself," was Showalter's punch line after a short anecdote about an experience his girlfriend and himself shared during a time of extreme intoxication and sexual difficulties.
The two went out with a bang after entertaining the audiences for well over an hour, the laughs never quitting.
