What to Wear: In London
Packing is always the hardest part of traveling. So next time you are planning a trip somewhere check out our What to Wear section for packing tips and ideas for different cities around the world.

Traveling to England in the near future? If so, then consider heading straight to the country’s most famous city: London.
The energy is electric, and the streets are enlivened with quirky characters that are sure to make you feel like you’re nowhere near home. However, to avoid sticking out like a lost American, clad in a fanny pack and Hawaiian print shirt, remember the following tips before your departure:
Suitcase Necessities: Venturing through London during the day requires an extensive amount of walking, which can cause excruciating pain for your feet and back. To avoid wasting money on cabs and a nightly foot soak, remember that flats are essential, whether you’re comfortable donning sneakers or a more stylish pair. Keeping a pair of rain boots, an umbrella and a water repellant jacket constantly handy is also a must as London’s weather varies daily.
City Chic: London is known for it’s eccentric street style, but there is a balance between being stylish and dressing for a week of travel. Bring layers! Consider basics like cardigans, and tank tops are a must because of the climate. However, if you are looking to dress to impress, take cue from the punk rock or Kate Moss vintage types that London generates: try leggings, leather boots, oxford flats, floral print tunics, dainty dresses, and blazers. British lads are equally as edgy, so daring American guys should try skinny jeans!
Must See Stops: Although some may associate museums with boring elementary school field trips, London has a museum for everyone from the Natural History Museum, to the British Music Experience. Likewise, the typical tourist destinations merit a stop, like St. Paul’s Cathedral with its enchanting architecture or Big Ben. The thought of catching a glimpse of Prince William isn’t the only reason to stop by Buckingham Palace: the palace is breathtaking, and there is often a “Changing of the Guards Ceremony” that is worth the trip. If your regal mood continues, visiting the Tower of London will also satisfy any historical quench you may have.
Calling all Shopaholics: “High street” style, which encompasses affordable fashion forward clothing, and even designer stores, can be found in various shops along Oxford Street, and Kensington High Street. Some of Europe’s favorite stores like Topshop and Miss Selfridge can be found among the “high street” fashion craze. Looking for vintage finds or unique treasures? During the weekends, Portobello Road Market is one of the most famous flea and antique markets in the world. Just bear in mind to keep tabs on your indulgences: one British pound is over $1.50 in the American dollar.
