Chippewas down the Broncos, look forward to Bowling Green

What a game!

The Chippewas took care of business against the Western Michigan Broncos on Saturday, with a final score of 34-23. Central Michigan has now won four-straight games against Western Michigan.

Senior quarterback, Dan LeFevour led the Chippewas on the offensive side of things. LeFevour accumulated 314 yards of offense and accounted for three touchdowns.

On the defensive side of the ball, junior linebacker Nick Bellore picked off a Tim Hiller pass with 30 seconds to go in the half, running it back to the two-yard line.

Two plays later, running back Brian Schroeder punched in a two-yard run to put Central up 27-13 going into the locker rooms at halftime.

Junior wide receiver, Antonio Brown caught a nine-yard touchdown pass from LeFevour in the fourth quarter to wrap up the game for the Chippewas.

Now onto this week's game - week eight at Bowling Green State University

This is a trap game for the Chippewas. Bowling Green (3-4, 2-1 in the MAC) is a MAC East team. Do not be fooled by their record. They have losses to both Boise State (49-14) and Missouri (27-20), but they have a phenomenal offensive hook-up that will test the Central secondary.

Bowling Green quarterback, Tyler Sheehan has thrown for 2,337 yards and 14 touchdowns so far this season. Sheehan has a favorite target - Freddie Barnes.

The 6'0" 215 lb. wide receiver, has 85 receptions for 882 yards and eight touchdowns already on the year, the MAC leader in all of those categories. Bowling Green also averages 341.1 yards per game through the air.

However, Bowling Green ranks last in the MAC rushing attack, only averaging 67 yards per game on the ground.

This will be the biggest test for the Chippewas so far this year in MAC. Sheehan has proved through seven games that he can throw the ball. There is no running game for the Chippewas to worry about from Bowling Green.

Keys to the game:

1.     Limit the damage done by Sheehan and Barnes. The Chippewas must get pressure to him. Central's defense cannot take Bowling Green's offense lightly.

2.     Run the ball- Bowling Green has the second worst run defense in the MAC, as they give up 204.7 yards per game on the ground. LeFevour, Schroeder, and company need to keep the ball moving with their feet and keep the clock moving as well.

3.     Antonio Brown/Bryan Anderson - Bowling Green can't double cover both of these guys at the same time. Both are dangerous in the open field or one-on-one. Get the ball to them either through the air or returning punts.

4.     Dan LeFevour - isn't he a key every week?

Prediction:

Central takes a slim lead into half, makes an adjustment or two, and pulls out a 31-20 victory over the Falcons.
